Ireland in Spring

My second 6 x 6 inch painting of Spring in Ireland. The inspiration for this lonely sheep was a photo taken by my daughter.

Ireland in Spring

This is a painting of a farm in Ireland my daughter visited last Spring. Kara took this beautiful photo of a horse and her foal on a farm she was visiting with her fiancé. The folks that own the farm will soon be part of her family.

Springtime in Ireland, as March is fast approaching, my thoughts turn to the beautiful, colorful Emerald Isle.

Loves Me, Loves Me Not

I remember as a child finding wild daisies growing here and there in the summer. Now that I think about it, I hope it wasn't someone's garden. My little pals and I loved plucking the petals to the words. I always saved one for my Mum.

I know winter has been kind this year, but I am a Spring person, seeing green sprouting up in my garden, I am hoping the wait is not long.

Bicycle challenge

While I was away for a couple weeks, I missed the DPW bicycle challenge. I think this is one of my favorite photos of my sister, Bridget. Set in the 1960's in July, the only thing missing is my Mum, hanging sheets in the backyard. I'm calling this Bridget, 1960. I wonder if she will find this and what she will think?

White on White

I wanted to try the white on white challenge in oil. It is such a white grey day outside, I thought this would help to see the different shades of grey surrounding everything today.

White on White

The DPW challenge for this week was a painting of white on white. I chose this photograph, taken by my daughter, Caitlin. We had a significant snow fall on Saturday, and for some reason, Mother Nature has been kind to the Great Lakes Region this winter. The lake and bay have not frozen....

Caitlin captured the icicles hanging from the heavy tree limb on the barely frozen shore on Misery Bay. At first glance, all appears white in the early morning sun. The gentle color reflections on the white snow and icicles were amazing.

Tomato Tango

Does anyone else feel a very strong pull to put your home and life in order after the Holidays. January it seems, is the time to straighten up all the "things" in our life that are spinning out of control. I had a difficult time with my head wanting to unclutter my surroundings and my other side wanting to paint. I was stuck in this rut until the new DPW challenge regarding the new it color for 2012. Tangerine Tango. My inspiration came from Facebook and my niece Mollie. She can capture with a camera, what I can only wish I could do. Thank you Mollie, for this beautiful, inspiring photo. These Tomato Tangos are painted in oil on a 4 x 12 canvas. Can't wait to try a watercolor version.
